Our story.

In 2020, I started SkrillaPay with a simple idea: build one app that would let people split a bill using whatever payment method they already preferred — PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, Venmo — without having to bounce between five different apps.

We spent the next year and a half building it.

Then, in 2022, everything stopped.

My father became critically ill. What started with sepsis turned into cancer, open-heart surgery, three strokes, two hernia surgeries, and one crisis after another. I put the business aside without a second thought and focused on my family.

During that time, Father Gilbert Martinez, the pastor who oversees my daughter's school, was visiting my dad at St. John's Hospital nearly every week. I already knew Father Gilbert through the school, but his support during those months meant a great deal to our family.

Then one Sunday that September, after Mass, he pulled me aside.

He asked if I could build something that would make it easier for their church to collect donations from parishioners.

I had already asked God to save my father, and I promised Him that if He did, I would do whatever He wanted from me in return. When Father Gilbert approached me that Sunday, it felt like an answer. That conversation became the beginning of Donation Basket.

My father pulled through, and today he's healthy.

Over the course of 2023, I began transforming the technology we had already built into something entirely different — a platform designed to make giving easier for religious organizations, schools, nonprofits, and the people who support them.

The technology may have started somewhere else, but Donation Basket found its purpose here.

And we've been building it ever since — one church, one school, and one organization at a time.
